Summary

This 8-week double-blind RCT randomized 120 adults with mild sleep difficulties to magnesium glycinate (400mg elemental Mg) or placebo. The magnesium group showed significant improvements in Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index scores and polysomnography-measured sleep efficiency.

Key Findings

1. PSQI improved by 3.2 points in Mg group vs 0.8 in placebo (p<0.001)
2. Sleep onset latency reduced by 12 minutes
3. REM sleep duration increased by 8%
4. Effects correlated with baseline Mg deficiency severity
